Why Repetition as a Path, to Mastery and Self-Realization ? : Meditation

Repetition as a Path to Mastery and Self-Realization

To become successful in life, one must embrace the necessity of repeated effort. There is a powerful proverb in Marathi: “Prayatnanti Parmeshwar”(God in Effort)—through relentless effort, one attains the divine. For the average person, this serves as a source of inspiration, reminding them that consistent endeavor leads to achievement. But for scientists and researchers, such counsel is almost redundant—they are inherently driven by a quest that they never abandon until they discover the result.

These individuals pursue answers until they reach the innermost essence of their subject. Their commitment is unfaltering; until they grasp the core, they do not let go. This resolve stems from an understanding that to uncover the truth about any element or concept, one must reach its very nucleus—its subtle origin. And this requires repetitive, disciplined engagement. Only through persistent practice do the unique characteristics of something reveal themselves.

The Power of Repetition in Pranayama

This is the very reason that in previous chapters or discussions, a specific form of Pranayama has been emphasized repeatedly. The call to practice the same technique over and over again is not redundant—it is profoundly intentional. With consistent effort, the latent mysteries within that pranayama begin to unfold. The physical, mental, and energetic benefits gradually emerge and become evident—not through one trial, but through many.

Pranayama, the ancient practice of breath regulation, is not something that unveils its effects instantly. It demands time, patience, and deep engagement. It is through ongoing repetition that one begins to comprehend its subtle essence and the transformations it incites within the body and mind.

There are two key elements that are harmonized in this particular

Mastery Over the Mind

First and foremost, one must learn to gain control over the mind. The practice guides the practitioner toward the state of Shunya Bhav (Zero mind), or nothingness—a meditative zero-point where thoughts and distractions dissolve. This is the first great benefit of Pranayama. It helps silence the mental chatter and gently ushers the mind into a meditative state.

Magnetic Transformation Through Self-hypnosis

The second element emerges once the mind has entered that deeply meditative state. Through a process akin to self-hypnosis, the mind elevates to its highest frequency. In this sublime state, a magnetic influence is activated within the practitioner, impacting the body in powerful and often unexplainable ways. Though abstract and difficult to articulate, with sustained practice this transformation becomes experimentially real.

Practice Breeds Perfection

Thus, there is immense value in repeating the same actions, the same exercises, and the same meditative techniques. Through this repetition, we do not merely form a habit—we cultivate skill, precision, and spiritual insight. In every discipline—be it science or spirituality—the path to mastery lies in doing and redoing. And in the realm of pranayama, this repeated effort is especially essential to internalize its truth and unleash its full potential.

The essence of all this can be distilled into a simple yet profound truth: when a practice is repeated with dedication, it begins to reveal its deepest layers. In the context of pranayama, such repetition leads to awareness of its hidden roots, its impact on the body and mind, and its ability to shape our consciousness.

It is not enough to practice once. Only through repetition can we embody the practice fully and understand its magic.
